Photography
The root of my artistic ambitions. My earliest work and medium of choice was 35mm SLR, that would I develop myself in the darkroom. Unfortunately, since finishing my studies I have not had access to a darkroom, and the digital photography era came to an end when I could not afford to replace the last camera I lost due to water damage (RIP).

Painting

The emphasis of most of my recent work has been in painting. The subject matter varies from macro renditions of natural objects (Untitled Flower, left) to abstract non-representational symphonies of colour. The emphasis is always on bright colour. About 90% of my work is acrylic, with several pieces experimenting in watercolour and oil.

Drawing

A lost art that I value highly. Before you learn to paint, you must learn to draw. Drawing is a rhythmic practice that I use mostly to relax. I never go anywhere without a sketchbook. I love to do studies of trees. The goal of my drawing is to stay true to aspects of realism, while reinterpreting some qualities such as colour or contrast in order to produce a surreal feel. Charcoal and conte are my weapons of choice, and I am also especially fond of watercolour pencils.

Mixed Media

I have always enjoyed producing works of collage, playing with pure colour to create illusions. Collage is one of the only media that encourages destruction along the path of creation. I enjoy doing a piece predominantly in one medium and adding an extra element, like in Found (left). Here I used india ink on wooden panel. The stylized lines follow the grain in selected areas. I then appliqued leaves.

Graphic Art

I take graphic design commissions and apply my background in Fine Arts and knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator to the creation of custom vector illustrations, logos, posters, etc.
